Study in Australia: Swinburne University International Aviation Women’s Association Scholarship.

The Swinburne University in Melbourne is now offering the International Aviation Women’ Association Scholarship for domestic and international students. This scholarship is available for a female student studying full time in aviation.

Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship is valued at $6,500 per year for 1 year. The scholarship recipient will also be required to attend the IAWA 2019 International Conference in Lima, Peru. All expenses will be covered by IAWA.

Eligible Nationalities
Scholarship is open to both domestic and international women students.

Entrance Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must:

  1. Be an International student, an Australian citizen, a New Zealand Citizen, an Australian permanent resident or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
  2. Be a female student studying full time in an aviation undergraduate or postgraduate course
  3. Submit a personal statement of no more than 500 words outlining your interest and passion for aviation and financial need for the scholarship
  4. Submit a referee report outlining leadership quality and community participation.

Study in Canada: University of Calgary Pathways Medicine Scholarship Program For 2018/2019.

The University of Calgary is pleased to offer Pathways to Medicine Scholarship Program for the 2018-2019 academic session.

The University of Calgary (U of C or UCalgary) is a public research university located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The University of Calgary started in 1944 as the Calgary branch of the University of Alberta, founded in 1908, prior to being instituted into a separate, autonomous university in 1966. It is composed of 14 faculties and over 85 research institutes and centres. The Cumming School of Medicine has designed the new Pathways to Medicine Scholarship program to support the enrollment and success of future MD students from traditionally under-represented groups throughout Alberta.

A group of dedicated general practitioners bring speciality training in family medicine to Calgary. A three-year residency for certification in General Practice is piloted at the Calgary General Hospital.

Entrance Requirement

  • Applicants must apply to their undergraduate degree program of choice at the University of Calgary independently.
  • The scholarship applies only to studies at the University of Calgary.
  • Applicants must be residents of Alberta as defined by the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM) Admission Policy. See MD Program Applicant Manual.
  • Only students from a low socioeconomic status background are eligible for this scholarship.
  • Consideration will be given to applicants who are of Indigenous ancestry and/or from a rural community.
  • Note: Low socioeconomic status is defined as having an average gross family income (as reported on line 260 of parental and personal tax returns) that is 1.5 times or less than the Statistics Canada before tax “low-income cut-offs” (LICO) for the past two to three years. More information can be found in the Pathways to Medicine Scholarship Applicant Manual.
  • Note: Applicants whose parents hold graduate or professional degrees (e.g. MBA, PhD, MD, LLB, etc.) will be considered on a case by case basis, but are unlikely to be awarded a scholarship. The scholarship is intended to primarily support individuals who come from socially disadvantaged backgrounds in addition to financial disadvantages.
  • Note: Rural is defined as having graduated high school in a community of fewer than 15,000 inhabitants.
  • Note: Indigenous applicants must provide a status card/certificate of Indian Status or offer other documentation of indigenous ancestry. Metis applicants must provide a Metis membership card issued by a recognized provincial Metis organization associated with the Metis National Council.
  • All applicants must provide a letter of nomination from your high school principal or a representative from a recognized community organization, Indigenous group or rural community.
  • Note: Community organization is defined as a non-profit or geographic entity that serves or represents the target populations (rural, indigenous, or under-served urban). Organizations maynominate a maximum of two applicants per application year.

All applicants who express an interest in the scholarship program will be asked to complete a preliminary Pathways to Medicine Scholarship application by March 1, 2019.

The Pathways to Medicine Committee will review the preliminary applications and shortlist based on two criteria: that the applicant fits with the vision of the pathways program and that the applicant demonstrates a strong academic ability. Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a full secondary application and take part in
an interview process with the committee.

Applicants will be informed of award decisions by the end of June 2019.

Entrance Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Scholarships will offer on a rolling basis until 31 July 2019 at the discretion of the University. As there are a limited number of scholarships available we encourage early submission of your postgraduate application. There is no separate application form; applicants who apply for an eligible course will be considered for a scholarship award until the total number of scholarships available is allocated.

Application Procedure
This award will be automatically allocated to outstanding applicants applying for the first time for 2019 entry (deferred ofer holders or applicants applying for deferred entry are not eligible). A separate application is not required. Academic merit, as determined by information provided in the application form, is the sole determinant in identifying potential scholars. Typically this will be the achievement of a bachelor’s degree equivalent to at least a UK upper second class award. If you are offered a Postgraduate Global Excellence Scholarship you will receive an e-mail notification following receipt of your University offer. If successful to accept the award you must make the University of Exeter’s offer your first choice by returning your deposit by the deadline identified in your offer letter.

Awardees will be required to satisfy any conditions stipulated in their scholarship offer letter no later than 31 August 2019.
