Study In Netherlands: The University of Amsterdam Admission Application Procedure.

Some couple of days ago I wrote about Amsterdam Science Talent Scholarship. Today I have put together step by step on how to apply for admission, requirements and various programmes available in English at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). The study programmes at UvA offer students a high level of autonomy, reflecting the respect for individual opinions and convictions that is characteristic of Dutch society. The result is an interactive teaching style that encourages students to develop self-reliance and independent thought. The UvA offers 15 English-taught Bachelor's programmes and has one of the largest selections of international Master's study programmes of any university in Europe. This includes nearly 200 English taught and several entirely unique to programmes at the UvA.

Step by step on how to apply for admission
Step 1: Create a Studielink account

Step 2: Log in to your account
As soon as you have received your password by email you can log into your account and personalise it.

Step 3: Add your previous education
Make sure the information you enter here is correct. In ‘My previous education’, click on ‘Add previous education’. Indicate if you have your diploma or when you expect to receive it. This date does not need to be exact. Then select the country where you obtained or will obtain the diploma. After that, select the type of diploma that you have obtained or will obtain. If it is not listed or you are unsure, just select Other.

Step 4: Apply for Study Programme
Click on ‘My study programmes’ and 'Add  a new enrolment’. Choose the appropriate academic year, select ‘University’ and 'Bachelor’s  or  non  master  programmes’ or ‘Master’s or other follow-up study programme’. Next, select ‘University of Amsterdam’ as the educational institution and choose the programme for which you wish to study. Check that you have chosen the correct name. Finally, choose ‘full-time’ and select ‘Confirm study programme’ and fill in the starting date information. If you would like to apply for another programme you can click ‘Add new enrolment’ and choose your programme in the dropdown menu.

Step 5: Procedures after application
After registering in Studielink, you will receive a confirmation email. Studielink will also verify your personal and educational details. If they cannot be automatically verified, you will receive an email asking you to send a copy of your passport and/or diploma to the relevant UvA admissions office.

Fully Funded Scholarship: Amsterdam Science Talent Scholarship (ASTS) for MSc Applicants.

The University of Amsterdam is delighted to offer a full scholarship covering tuition fee and living expenses to outstanding prospective master's students. The University of Amsterdam (UvA) is a public university located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Established in 1632, the University of Amsterdam is the third-oldest university in the Netherlands. It is one of the largest research universities in Europe with over 32,000 students and approximately 5,000 staff. It also the largest university in the Netherlands in term of enrollment. In 2014, UvA was ranked 50th in the world, 15th in Europe, and 1st in the Netherlands by the QS World University Rankings.

The Amsterdam Science Talent Scholarship (ASTS) is a full scholarship offer at the faculty of Science for prospective master students. The scholarship award amount to €12,500 (covering tuition fee and living expenses) for one academic year with the possibility of extension in the second year
(for two-year Master’s programmes) if the student obtain/achieve at least 80% of the 60 possible credits.

Eligibility
Applicants wishing to apply for an ASTS
programme should:
  • hold a nationality from one of the countries of the EU/EEA (The Netherlands excluded) or Suisse
  • not receive a full coverage scholarship for the same period of study as the ASTS
  • have submitted a complete application to one of the MSc programmes
  • have been (or will be) admitted for the first time to one of the MSc programmes at the UvA.
Selection criteria for the scholarship
  • The candidate’s academic records. Students belonging to the top 10% of graduates from their class can apply. This generally means an overall GPA equivalent to 3.5 (American system on 4-point scale), 1st class honours/ upper division (British system) or 8+ (Dutch EC-system, 10-point scale);
  • The academic quality of the educational institute where the (under)graduate degree has been (or will be) obtained;
  • The quality of the letter of motivation (maximum 500 words), in which the candidate explains the reasons for choosing the specific Master’s programme in a broader context and the relevance of obtaining this scholarship for the candidate’s future academic career;
  • The candidate’s curriculum vitae, including a description of extracurricular activities such as participation in student commissions, international experience, sports or music at a high level or volunteer work;
  • Proof of English proficiency.
How to apply
The Faculty of Science has a limited number of Amsterdam Science Talent Scholarships available. In addition to the admission requirements of the Master's programme, eligible candidates are selected on the basis of their academic excellence and promise in the proposed field as evidenced by:

If you fulfill all the requirements above you can be considered for the Amsterdam Science Talent Scholarship. There is no separate application form to apply for scholarship, to be considered you must first complete application procedure for the Master’s programme of your choice at UvA. On your application form there is a place where you will be ask whether you want to be considered for a UvA scholarship. Check
the box if you want to be considered. Furthermore, you should include a paragraph in your motivation letter explaining why you wish to be nominated for the Amsterdam Science Talent Scholarship, and what it would mean for your future academic career.
After applying, the coordinators of the MSc
Programmes decide which students qualify for the scholarship. All students will be informed as soon as possible.

Application for admission and scholarships is currently on at Warren Wilson College for international students who wish to begin their study in Fall 2018. Warren Wilson College (WWC), established in 1894 is a private four-year liberal arts college located near Asheville, North Carolina, in the Swannanoa Valley. The college offers classes in a range of disciplines with Environmental Studies and Creative Writing among the most popular. WWC is known for its curriculum that combines academics, work, and service. This system, called "the Triad", requires every student to complete a requisite course of study, work an on-campus job, and perform community
service. Warren Wilson is one of the few colleges in the United States that requires students to work for the institution in order to graduate and is one of only seven colleges in the Work Colleges Consortium.

  • Original (or certified copies) of all secondary (high school) transcripts, university transcripts (if applicable) and examination certificates (if applicable).
  • Demonstrated English Proficiency: A satisfactory proficiency of the English language is required for admission to Warren Wilson College and is required for all students whose native language is not English. Minimum score of 79 in TOEFL and 6.5 in IELTS.
  • Financial Aid Application: Warren Wilson College encourages all students to apply for need based aid at the time of application. Students who do not wish to be considered for need based aid need to send in a letter of financial support for the estimated cost of one year.

MILEPOST ONE: Full-Tuition Scholarship
Milepost One is a full-tuition scholarship program for students eager to get on the road to a Warren Wilson degree but concerned about making it financially possible. Warren Wilson awards up to 25 full-tuition Milepost One scholarships per
year to students with total family income levels equal to or below $125,000 per year. 

Other Scholarships at Warren Wilson College with no separate application.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS ($5,000-18,000) per year: WWC academic scholarships include the Trustee, Presidential, Dean’s, and Opportunity scholarships. Based exclusively on academic performance, including research projects and rigor of curriculum, the college academic scholarships celebrate the academic accomplishments of their students. As a test-optional institution, test scores are never used to determine scholarship awards.

WOODBURY SCHOLARSHIP ($4,500) per
year: The Woodbury Foundation was
established in 1990 by Mrs. Woodbury
(Christiana) Ransom. The scholarship is based on merit or need, and recipients are nominated by their admissions counselor and chosen annually by a special committee.

HONOR SCHOLARSHIP ($4,000) per year: Awarded to those students who best
represent the mission of the college through their overall high school performance and notable achievements.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND
LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP ($4,000) per year: Awarded to students who have
demonstrated exceptional leadership
capacity or commitment to their
community, including involvement in
some form of volunteer activity. Students may also be considered if they have excelled in extra-curricular activities, including athletic teams, student governance, gap-year programs, semester schools, Outward Bound and more.

SUSTAINABILITY SCHOLARSHIP ($4,000) per year: Awarded to students who have
demonstrated exceptional leadership in both awareness and action towards a healthier planet.

Tuition Fee Scholarship at Mid Sweden University.

For high performing students applying to a study programme at Mid Sweden University, there are a number of scholarships which will result in a tuition waiver of 70,000 SEK, 140,000 SEK or 250,000 SEK depending on the chosen programme. All students who have applied to a study programme at Mid Sweden University starting autumn semester 2018, and who are required to pay tuition fees are welcome to apply for a Mid Sweden University Tuition Fee Scholarship. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence. Mid Sweden University is a Swedish state university located in the region around the geographical center of Sweden, with two campuses in the cities of Östersund and Sundsvall.

Eligibility for scholarships
The Mid Sweden University Tuition Fee
Scholarship is aimed at top academic
students from countries outside the EU/
EEA (and Switzerland). The scholarships can be applied for by applicants of the following programmes:
A fee waiver of the tuition fee with 70,000
SEK:
  • Master programme (one year) in Business Administration, Marketing and Management, 60 credits
A fee waiver of the tuition fee with 140,000 SEK:
  • Master in Tourism, 120 higher education credits
A fee waiver of the tuition fee with 250,000 SEK:
  • International Master's Programme in Computer Engineering, 120 higher education credits
  • International Master's Programme in Ecotechnology and Sustainable Development, 120 higher education credits
  • Master's Programme in Embedded Sensor Systems.
Requirements for scholarships:
  • The Scholarship is awarded for a fee reduction of 70,000 to 250,000 SEK for the tuition fee for the programme at Mid Sweden University the student has applied to at the time of the scholarship application.
  • The scholarship amount is deducted from the tuition fee invoice for the programme which the awarded student is acceepted into. This means that the scholarship will not be disbursed to the student. The scholarship cannot be transferred to another programme at Mid Sweden University or another university.
  • The scholarship is valid only for studies starting autumn semester 2018 and cannot be postponed.
To be considered for a scholarship, the
following conditions apply:
  • The application for studies must be made no later than January 15, 2018.
  • The applicant must be admitted to one of the above mentioned programmes starting in the autumn semester 2018.
  • The applicant must be citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland.
  • The applicant must be required to pay a tuition fee.
If awarded a scholarship the Scholarship holder is obliged to:
  • Pay the tuition fee according to the tuition fee invoice. If payment is not made on time the scholarship will be withdrawn.
  • Enter into a written scholarship contract with Mid Sweden University before starting the studies.
  • Confirm his or her citizenship by means of a passport photocopy before starting the studies. Inform Mid Sweden University if personal conditions change and the student is no longer required to pay a tuition fee..The scholarship will then be withdrawn for that part of your studies.
  • If the scholarship holder does not enroll at Mid Sweden University, the scholarship will be withdrawn.
  • If the scholarship holder intermits his/her studies at Mid Sweden University, the scholarship will be withdrawn for the remaining part of his/her studies.
  • If the scholarship holder wrongly has stated that he or she met the conditions for the scholarship, by a misunderstanding or for another reason, the scholarship will be withdrawn.

2018/2019 Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) at University of Toronto.

The 2018/2019 Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) competition at the University of Toronto (U of T) is now open for both domestic and international students studying at U of T. The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program encourages excellence in graduate studies at publicly-assisted universities in Ontario. Since 1975, the OGS program has been providing merit-based scholarships to Ontario’s best graduate students in all disciplines of academic study. The scholarship program at U of T is jointly funded by the Province of Ontario and the University of Toronto. The value of the OGS is $5,000 per session and is available for graduates study only.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for OGS applicants must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) by the student deadline as determined by each graduate unit; International students who are studying or plan to study at the University of Toronto under a temporary resident visa (student study permit) are eligible for a set number of OGS awards;
  • Be registered or intend to register in an eligible program on a full-time basis in 2018/2019;
  • Have not exceeded the lifetime maximum of government-funded support or maximum OGS support available ​for their current level of study and
  • ​Have achieved at least A- (or equivalent) in each of the last two completed years of study (full-time equivalent); or if the student has competed two years of graduate studies at the time of application, the student must only demonstrate an overall average of at least A- (or equivalent) on all graduate courses completed.

Application requirements

  • OGS application form.
  • Two academic references (referees will be required to submit online).
  • Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions (unofficial and student-issued transcripts are permitted; e.g., ROSI screenshots).
  • Study plan (maximum 3,950 characters including spaces).
  • Previous awards/publications/research experience.

How to apply

Applicants must submit an OGS application to their proposed graduate unit using the U of T School of Graduate Studies centralized online OGS application. Once completed and submitted online, the entire application will be available to the proposed graduate unit(s) for review and consideration.

Eligibility to hold an OGS Award

To hold an OGS award, recipients:
  • Must register and remain enrolled as a full-time student at U of T in an eligible program at the graduate unit from which the OGS was awarded.
  • Who withdraw, transfer to part-time status, complete degree requirements prior to the end of their award, or fail to complete the full session will be required to repay the funds received for the incomplete session.
  • Must be in good standing with the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP). Applicants who have defaulted on a Canada or Ontario Student Loan, or have failed to make satisfactory repayment on a loan overpayment, are ineligible to receive the award. Those with an OSAP restriction may still apply for the OGS. However, if awarded, they must have the restriction cleared within 30 days of notification in order to accept and hold the award;
  • May accept research assistantships, part-time teaching positions, or other paid employment that does not affect their status as a full-time graduate student and is commensurate with the graduate unit policies. Typically, students holding full-time paid employment are not eligible to receive an OGS from the University of Toronto
  • Cannot hold an OGS award at the same time (or during any session) as a scholarship from SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR, a QEII-GSST, or an OGS from any given year.

Åbo Akademi University located in Turku, Finland is a multidisciplinary international university which offers study programmes from bachelor to doctorate level. The university was established in 1918, the main language of instruction is Swedish however, there are also several interesting International Master’s Programmes in English. Åbo Akademi University is committed to research and research-based education of the highest quality. The university is said to have one of the most prestigious business programs in the world (in 1999). Åbo Akademi University provides students an opportunity to study in

Admission requirements

  • Language proficiency certificate: Applicants to the International Master's Degree Programmes must show English language proficiency. Any of these English test is acceptable: TOEFL, IELTS, PTE Academic, etc.

Tuition fee and Scholarships

Tuition fees were introduced at the beginning of 2017 in accordance to the University Act and the Polytechnics Act. The fees applies to only non-EU/EEA students starting their studies from August 2017 onwards. Students admitted earlier will not be affected by the fees.

Scholarships
Åbo Akademi University has launched a scholarship programme (from 2017) for tuition fee-paying students admitted to Åbo Akademi University. The scholarships are connected to the study entitlement can only be used to pursue studies within the programme the student has been admitted to. Click to apply for admission.
There are three (3) Scholarship categories:
  • Full Scholarship, covering the tuition fee and includes a annual scholarship to cover the student’s living expenses (€6,720), awarded for 2 years (second year conditional)
  • Tuition Fee Scholarship, covering 100 % of the tuition fee, awarded for 2 years (second year conditional)
  • Tuition Fee Scholarship, covering 50 % of the tuition fee, awarded for 2 years (second year conditional).
The decision to grant a scholarship is based on
1. the academic performance of the student in his/her previous studies
2. how well the applicant meets the programme requirements
3. the answers the applicants have given in the application form.

When applying to Åbo Akademi University applicants can indicate on the application form their wish to apply for a scholarship (as there is no separate application form for scholarship). In the application form the applicants are asked to answer a set of questions related to motivation and future goals. The answers to the questions will be assessed by the scholarship committee who makes the decision on granting the scholarships. In the assessment the
following is evaluated: communicative skills, academic goals and general interest in the field. The decision on the granted scholarship is given to the applicants together with the admission letter. In order to accept the scholarship the applicant must have accepted the study entitlement offered (binding acceptance).

Scholarships for the second year of study
The scholarships are awarded for two years. However, the second year is conditional depending on the progress of the studies. In order to qualify for the scholarship in the second year, a scholarship holder must earn at least 55 credits during the first academic year.

Admission requirements
A Bachelor’s degree (first cycle degree) in the field of technology or architecture provides eligibility to apply to a Master’s degree programme at TUT. The previous degree should be from a field closely related to the Master's degree programme you are applying for. The bachelor’s degree completed in a university outside Finland must provide eligibility to university-level master’s degree studies in the country in question. Applicants who are in the final semester of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply, provided that they will graduate by the end of July 2018.

English language requirements
In the Master’s degree programmes conducted in English at Tampere University of Technology (TUT) a good command of English is an absolute prerequisite. When applying to the Master’s degrees programmes you must demonstrate your proficiency in English with an internationally recognised academic language test report. The accepted tests are IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, TOEFL PBT, PTE, etc.

TUT scholarships
TUT offers a generous scholarship programme for fee-paying students. TUT continues to provide excellent international students with high-quality, yet affordable, education. The TUT scholarship programme consists of the TUT academic excellence scholarship and tuition fee waivers.

TUT academic excellence scholarship
The TUT academic excellence scholarships is a full tuition fee waiver as well as an allowance of €7000 per academic year to cover living costs. The scholarships are awarded for an academic year and considered on an annual basis.

Tuition fee waivers
The majority of TUT scholarships are awarded as tuition fee waivers to the most talented students. The fee waivers awarded may cover either 50% or 100% of the full tuition fee. Tuition fee waivers are awarded during the admissions process or can be earned during the studies. The tuition fee waivers are awarded for the duration of the normative time for completing the degree (3 academic years for a Bachelor's degree and 2 academic years for a Master's degree) on the condition that the student progresses in their studies according to the normative schedule. In order to retain the waiver, the student must complete at least 55 credits in an academic year.

For students who have not been awarded a TUT scholarship in the admissions process, it is possible to earn a tuition fee waiver for the second or third (in BSc) year of studies by progressing in studies speedily. A student who has not received a TUT scholarship at all can earn a 50% fee waiver by completing at least 65 credits of courses included in the degree requirements in an academic year. A 100% fee waiver can be earned by completing at least 75 credits of courses included in the degree requirements in an academic year.

Students wishing to be considered for a TUT scholarship must apply for the scholarship at the same time with their application for admission. There is no separate scholarship application; the scholarship application is made by ticking the appropriate box in the application for admission. Applicants who are admitted will get the decision concerning admission and scholarship at the same time. The TUT scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, evaluated on the basis of the student admission criteria. Applicants who are admitted to TUT and awarded the TUT scholarship must confirm their study place at TUT within two weeks of the admissions decision in order to retain the TUT scholarship.

Vrije University is inviting students from various part of the world to apply into their Bachelor, Master and PhD programmes in the field of natural sciences, classics, life sciences, social sciences, humanities, and engineering. The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) is a university located in Brussels, Belgium. It was established in 1970 and as of 2015 it has over 14,000 students and more than 6,000 administrative staff. It has three campuses: Brussels Humanities, Science and Engineering Campus (in Etterbeek), Brussels Health Campus (in Jette ) and Brussels Technology Campus (in Kaai).

Requirements for Bachelor programmes
When you apply for a Bachelor programme you need to have a secondary school credential that grants you access to a Bachelor degree in your home country.

When you apply for a master programme you need to have a bachelor degree (or equivalent).
  • passport
  • picture
  • bachelor degree (or enrollment certificate when you are in your final year)
  • transcript of records
  • proof of language proficiency
  • 1 motivation letter
  • 2 reference letters (not required for Master of management, international business and communication studies). If you apply for a science program (Biology, Geography, etc) this must be written by an academic.

 Requirements for PhD programmes
Students who obtained their diploma outside of Belgium will need the following documents:
  • Passport photo
  • Identity card or passport
  • Research topic and Research proposal
  • Document 'Application form Registration PhD' (without this document, your application is invalid)
  • CV
  • Diploma + transcripts
  • Motivation letter (if you have a non-Belgian degree)
  • 2 recommendation letters (if you have a non-Belgian degree)

 Language requirement
All economic programmes request a higher level in English (TOEFL iBT min. score 80 and IELTS min. score 6.5). 
Please note that the language requirements need to be met before you can enrollment into the university.
Students applying for a PhD programme are exempted from the language requirements.
Application fees
Application fee is free for those who apply for admission before April 1st. €100 will be charge for those that apply after April 1st.


General deadlines:

June 1st: 100€

EEA nationals
June 1st: free of charge

All students who require visa and apply after April 1st (and before June 1st, as this is the deadline) will be charged an administrative cost of 100€. This cost can only be paid via bank transfer. Creditcards or other forms of payment are not accepted. Please note that all costs related to this transfer are the applicant's resposibility. After the payment has been received your file will be screened by admission offices. Administrative cost is non refundable.

International Master’s Degree Students Scholarship Programme at University of Jyväskylä, Finland.

University of Jyväskylä is delighted to offer scholarship to students from Non EU/EEU countries who wish to study in their masters program in English. The scholarship covers the full tuition fee and it is awarded for two academic years. Scholarships are granted based on the admission criteria of the programme in question. A maximum of 50% of admitted scholarship applicants in each programme may be granted a scholarship. The Scholarship is renewable for the second year so far the student attain a minimum of 55 ECTS credits during the first academic. The University of Jyväskylä (JYU) is a university in Jyväskylä, Finland founded in 1863. Around 15,000 students are currently enrolled in the degree programs of the university. It is ranked as the fourth largest university in Finland when measured according to the number of master's degrees conferred. The university offers a wide range of study programmes for bachelor's or master's degree conducted in English, many of which are unique in Finland. Natural Sciences, Human Sciences, Sports and Health Sciences as well as Teacher education are the university's areas of special expertise.

How to apply for admission and scholarship
You can apply for the scholarship in the same online application form with which you apply for admission to a Master’s programme at JYU.
You will be notified of the decision in the official letter of acceptance. A student must notify that he or she either accepts or declines the offered scholarship in connection of accepting the study place.

Admission Requirements for master program
  • Bachelor's degree or a polytechnic degree.
The degree has to be completed by 17 July 2018.
  • English language proficiency
Students selected to foreign-language medium Master’s degree programmes are not required to have proficiency in Finnish at the admission stage. All applicants must attach a proof of their proficiency in English language to their application. JYU accept the following language tests: TOEFL, IELTS Academic, CPE, CAE, PTE Academic, and
the National Certificate of Language Proficiency.

How to apply for admission
Application rounds for English-medium Master's degree programmes at the University of Jyväskylä are organised through a centralised admission service (University Admissions Finland, UAF) established by Finnish universities. First, an applicant fills in the online application form in the portal. Then he/she sends the hard copies of the required documents (or requests an institute issuing a certificate/document to send it) to the address of UAF (University Admissions Finland, Unioninkatu 40 C, FI-00170 Helsinki, Finland). After that, UAF checks if the applicants have sufficient language proficiency considering the requirements of the degree programme and if the applicants are eligible to apply for master’s degree education. UAF also checks the authenticity of the documents.

Application for admission is now open for masters and Undergraduate studies at KU Leuven. KU Leuven also known as the University of Leuven, is a research university in the Dutch-speaking city of Leuven in Flanders, Belgium. How to apply for admission into masters program

 Step 1: Complete online application
To start your application at KU Leuven, login to the web application and complete your personal data (personal data, addresses, curriculum and languages). Fields marked with * are obligatory. After saving your data, return to the main page (button on top of the page) and check the completeness of each section.

Step 2: Add application
You have to complete your application(s) by
clicking the 'Edit' button on the right of the
application
  • Add an application by clicking the '+' button in the Applications section on the main page of the web application
  • Select the academic year 
  • Choose the type of programme
  • Choose your specific programme by using the search tool
  • Complete any additional information that is requested
  • Save the data

Step 3: Upload attachments
After saving your application, you must upload all required documents as attachments in the 'Attachments' tab in PDF files. Click to see each programmes admission requirements.

Step 4: Pay application fee
For each submitted application an application processing fee of EUR 50 is required. The application fee can be paid via online payment within the web
application ('Application fee' tab) or bank transfer. Upload the proof of payment as an attachment (Attachment type: Proof of payment of the application fee). Please note that application fees paid after deadline will not be refunded.

Step 5: Submit application
Submit your online application. Please note that if one or more of the core documents are missing you will receive an error message. Upload the requested documents before resubmitting your application.

Step 6: Send certified hard copies of diplomas and transcripts of
academic records
After completing your online application, please send the certified copies of your diplomas and transcript of records and their translations (if applicable) in hard copy to:

 Tuition fee:
