There are courses taught in English, that’s if you are from an English speaking country, you may only wish to learn a second language (Swedish) for personal interest.
Uppsala University is a research university in Uppsala, Sweden, and is the oldest university in Sweden and all of the Nordic countries still in operation. The university was founded in 1477. The University studies are counted in credits. 1.5 credits corresponds to one week of full-time studies. One semester is worth 30 credits.

Bachelor’s studies
You apply to Uppsala University’s Bachelor’s programmes through the website. www.universityadmissions.se
The application period for Bachelor’s programmes commencing autumn 2018 is from 16 October 2017 to 15 January 2018.
Uppsala University offers four international Bachelor’s programmes, all delivered in English, and with a duration of three years of full-time study. These programmes are taken at Campus Gotland.
Entry Requirements For Master's Level
Start your application: create an account on the University Admissions in Sweden website via www.universityadmissions.se.
A Bachelor’s degree from an internationally recognised university.
English Language Proficiency: This is usually done through an internationally recognised test such as TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent.
Required Test Scores
- IELTS ACADEMIC: an overall mark of 6.5 and no section below 5.5
- TOEFL: Paper-based: Score of 4.5 (scale 1–6) in written test and a total score of 575. Internet-based: Score of 20 (scale 0–30) in written test and a total score of 90
- Cambridge: CAE, CPE
Tuition and Fee
Application fee is SEK 900.
Tuition is within the range of SEK 50,000 – SEK 72,500 per semester, depending on the programme of study.
Living Expenses
To obtain a Swedish residence permit, students are required to have a minimum of SEK 8,064 per month. When you apply for your residence permit you must enclose a bank statement showing that you have your own bank funds available in an account belonging to you.
Students Part time Work Availability
Full-time study normally involves an average commitment of 40 hours of work per week.
