Fully Funded Scholarship: UT Delft Sub-Saharan Africa Excellence Scholarships: Application For 2018/2019.

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) aims to attract the world’s brightest students to its international classrooms. For that reason, it has established several scholarship programmes specifically designed to offer talented and motivated international students the opportunity to pursue a degree at TU Delft. TU Delft is a technology university with a leading global reputation. Their education and research encompasses virtually the full range of high-quality disciplines, courses and unique facilities in the engineering sciences. TU Delft wants to be a breeding ground for cutting-edge technological scientific developments to meet the great societal challenges of our age.

Delft University of Technology is offering a fully funded scholarship to students from Sub-Saharan Africa. These scholarships give talented, motivated and broadly interested students from Sub-Saharan Africa the opportunity to study at the Delft University of Technology. The Global Initiativeaims to support capacity building in the Global South and to advance future leadership focusing on sustainable global development. The UN Sustainable Development Goals are a guiding principle for the TU Delft.

TU Delft  Global Initiative offers four Sub-Saharan Africa Excellence Scholarships every year. From the students we expect that they are willing to act as our ambassadors during their studies and after graduation.

The scholarships is offer to the citizens of the country below:

Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South-Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the scholarship you must be admitted to one of TU Delft’s MSc programmes with an accumulative grade point average (GPA) of 80 percent or higher of the scale maximum in your bachelor’s degree; A degree from an accredited university in one of the above mentioned countries.

Application deadline:

Before 1 February 2018.

Extent of Scholarship:




  • Full tuition fees for a TU Delft MSc programme and  living expenses for 2 years.€25.000 per year for Sub-Saharan students.
  • Membership to the Scholarship club giving access to personal development, workshops, seminars, etc.
  • A MSc thesis topic which relates to the Sustainable Development Goals and TU Delft | Global Initiative.
  • Be our ambassador for Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • TU Delft Admission Requirements

    • A good university bachelor's degree in a main subject closely related to the MSc programme to which you are applying: a certified copy of your original diploma (plus translation, if necessary)
    • CGPA > 75% (unless specific requirements are defined for your country): a certified copy of your complete transcripts, front and back (plus translation, if necessary)
    • Language requirements: TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge
    • Motivation Letter: 1,000-1,500 words clear and relevant essay in English
    • Reference letters: Two reference letters in English, French, German or Dutch
    • Curriculum Vitae: An extensive resume written in English.
    • Proof of identity: A photocopy of the page(s) of your passport showing your name, date of birth, place of birth and the passport expiration date.
    • Payment application fee(If applicable)
    • Portfolio (if required by your MSc programme)
    • GRE: GRE Revised General Test (only for MSc Aerospace Engineering)

    • Complete your application form
    • Complete the application form for Sub-Saharan Africa Scholarship, download the form here
    • Upload your MSc application and the Application for Sub-Saharan Africa Excellence Scholarship before 1 February 2018.

    Successful Applicants:

    Only students who have been granted a scholarship will be informed by TU Delft via email by begin-April 2018.
    Receiving the scholarship is conditional on the student fulfilling all admission criteria.
