Academic Requirements For Undergraduate Programmes
International students applying for undergraduate admission will bereviewed according to all secondary and
post-secondary academic work. An
English translation of all academic work
is required. Original or certified grade
(mark) sheets for secondary school and
college or university diplomas in those
countries where mark sheets are not
available are required. Credential
evaluations from other agencies do not
substitute for original transcripts. In
addition, an official copy of the scores
on either the Test of English as a
Foreign Language (TOEFL) or
International English Language Testing
System (IELTS) is required for applicants
from non-English speaking countries.
Please note that ETSU does not require ACT/SAT scores for admission purposes from international freshmen applicants who
successfully complete secondary education in countries other than the U.S.
English Language Proficiency Requirement:
International students whose first language is not English may satisfy the English proficiency requirement by submitting one of the following:

- ELS - English Language Services(applicants may submit an official academic record demonstrating successful completion)

- Two semesters or three quarters ofcollege-level English composition from an accredited U.S. college or university which transfers as ENGL 1010 and 1020 with a minimum grade of "C". Official transcript is required.
- Minimum of one year of attendance as an exchange student in or graduation from a U.S. high school. Official transcript is required.
- ETSU will also accept other nationally recognized, comparable, standardizedEnglish proficiency examinations.
Admissions decisions will be made using
official documents. Official documents are
original documents or certified copies of original documents and must be received by mail or courier service. Educational credential in a language other than English should be provided in the original language along with a certified English translation. Unofficial translations are not acceptable.

Academic Requirements For Master Programmes
- A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. European students with three-year Bologna bachelor's degrees and Indian students with three-year bachelor's degrees from Indian Universities ranked A (3.01 - 4.0) through the NAAC accreditation process will be considered to have equivalent four-year degree. Degrees from non-accredited institutions or from institutions outside the U.S. will be evaluated on an individual basis.
- Applicants must meet one of the following GPA requirements:
* 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
* 16 on a 20-point scale.
* 80.0 from Chinese institutions.
* 1st Class, 2nd Class Honors, or 1st and
upper 2nd Division from Indian institutions.
* Upper 2nd Class Honors on various British systems.
* Other grading systems will be evaluated
upon receipt of transcripts.
- A personal essay of 150-300 words, detailing your interests in a graduate program at ETSU.
- Submit the non-refundable application fee of $65.00. The application fee must be submitted before any further application materials can be sent to the graduate school.
- One official transcript from every college or university where the applicant has taken courses including proof of all degrees received. If the records are not in English,certified translations that are attested by the awarding institution must be sent in addition to the official documents. Notarized copies and third-party attestations are not acceptable. Individual-year mark sheets from Indian institutions are required. Summary mark sheets are not accepted.
- Certification of English Proficiency: Graduate students whose native language is not English must submit one of the following:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Score of 79 (Internet-Based) Score of 550 (Paper-based).
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Score of 6.5
PTE Academic: score of 53 or higher
Documentation showing the successful completion of the ELS Language Centers level 112 course.
Proof of degree from an accredited U.S. institution.
