How to apply for a Bachelor's Degree Program
To be considered for admission for a bachelor's program you must have:
Applicants with Foreign higher Education entrance qualification
Foreign students applying for admission to study at TUM must have a higher education entrance qualification. Foreign applicants, who have not obtained their higher education entrance qualification in
Germany or have not completed their German school-leaving examination (Abitur), must put in a Preliminary Documentation Request to uni-assist before submitting an application to TUM. Uni-assist uses the uniform and valid guidelines of the Central Office for Foreign Education to verify whether your higher education entrance qualification can be assessed as a German university entrance qualification. Since this all depends on the country in which your school leaving qualification was acquired, no one uniform rule applies. To assess whether your higher education entrance qualification qualifies you for studies at TUM, first submit your documents to Uni-assist here.
Applicants with an International
Baccalaureate Diploma (IB)
If you wish to apply at TUM with an
International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), there are a few things you need to know:
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

- You have to fulfill the curricular requirements set out by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany (Kultusministerkonferenz)
- Please note that only an IB with German A as Higher Level is recognized as proof of German language skills. Otherwise, you need to supply separate proof of sufficient German skills with your application at TUM.
APPLICATION
- When applying with an IB, you need to hand in a Notification of the Office for Certificate Recognition (Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle) for Bavaria. You need to apply for this notification at the Office for Certificate Recognition before applying at TUM via the approriate application form
- After applying via TUMonline, you then hand in your Notification of the Office for Certificate Recognition and a notarized copy of your Official Transcript of Grades together with the other application documents. If you already have your IB Diploma at this point, please submit it as a notarized copy instead of the Official Transcript of Grades. If you have not supplied your IB Diploma with the initial application, you need to hand it in within the designated deadline for enrollment at the very latest. TUMonline will generate a list of the required documents at the end of the application process.

How to apply for a Master's degree programs
To be considered for master's studies you have to complete a bachelor degree. Applicants who have obtained their
qualification for postgraduate studies
(i.e. a bachelor's degree) in a country
outside of the EU/EEA need to have
their documents processed by uni-
assist. Uni-assist generates a
preliminary documentation (VPD), which
determines whether applicants qualify
for postgraduate studies in Germany.
Applicants with a qualification for
postgraduate studies obtained in
Switzerland do not need a preliminary
documentation. To apply for this preliminary
documentation, please submit your
documents to Uni-assist within the
relevant application period. Please be
sure to send your preliminary documentation to TUM as soon as you
receive it.
Please note that verification of your documents with uni-assist does not qualify as an application for TUM. You will need to
apply to TUM via TUMonline before the
relevant application deadline.
