In 2017 U.S. News & World Report ranked Purdue University as tied for the 20th-best public university in the United States, tied for 60th overall, and 90th best globally. U.S. News & World Report rated Purdue 13th for undergraduate teaching and tied at 9th for the most innovative schools. Purdue was also ranked 9th for its undergraduate engineering program and ranked 23rd for its undergraduate business program.
Undergraduate Admission
Students who have graduated or will graduate from secondary school but have not earned credits at a post-secondary institution should apply for undergraduate.
Admission requirements and how to apply
Step 1: Apply online and pay $60 application fee.
Step 2: Secondary school grades.
Upload all secondary school transcripts, diplomas, mark sheets and certificates
(i.e., IGCSE, X standard) from each secondary school attended.
Step 3: Official SAT or ACT Score.
SAT or ACT scores with writing is strongly
encouraged for international citizens.
Step 4: Proof of English Proficiency.
Purdue requires all international applicants from a non-English speaking country to submit an English proficiency test score.
English proficiency can be demonstrated by
submitting ONE of the following official scores: TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ACT, etc.
Step 5: Letter of Recommendation.
Though not required, a letter of recommendation is strongly encouraged, especially for students eligible to be considered for scholarships.

How to apply
- Complete online application
- Upload official transcript. You must upload to the online application transcript(s) and/or academic document(s) for every institution of higher education you attended.
- Submit results of required tests (if needed) for your graduate program (examples of tests: GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, IELTS, PTE).
