Shawnee State University is pleased and proud to offer first time undergraduate applicants with outstanding academic ability
and individual achievement Merit-Based Scholarships. The scholarship funds are provided through the generosity of donors and many are administered through the Shawnee State University Development Foundation. Shawnee State University (SSU) is a public university established in 1986, it is one of Ohio’s youngest universities and is located along the banks of the Ohio River in the city of Portsmouth in Scioto County. The university has more than 4,000 students with over 50 international students and faculty representing over 20 countries,
creating an international atmosphere on the small campus.
Over $2 million dollars are awarded in
scholarships every year, and with 80 Bachelor and Associate programs and 3 Master’s degree programs, SSU offers a wide range of high-quality signature programs at an affordable price with having the second to lowest tuition in the state of Ohio. SSU also offers study abroad programs in Chile, China, Germany, Morocco, Spain and 30 other countries.
Shawnee Scholar Award
(Full-tuition scholarship for four years)
This highly competitive Scholarship will be awarded to 8 outstanding students. If you have an ACT score of 30 and higher or
SAT (combined reading/math) score of
1320+ and a high school grade point
average of at least 3.8/4.0 scale you will
be considered for this prestigious award Those in consideration will be asked to
submit sample work.
Shawnee Achievement Award
($6,000 per year/$24,000 for four years)
If you have an ACT score of 27 and higher or SAT (combined reading/math) score of 1210+ and a high school grade point
average of at least 3.8/4.0 scale you will
be considered for this award.
Shawnee Excellence Award
($5,000 per year/$20,000 for four years)
If you have an ACT score of 25 and higher
or SAT (combined reading/math) score of
1130+ and a high school grade point
average of at least 3.6/4.0 scale you will
be considered for this award.
Shawnee Success Award
($4,000 per year/$16,000 for four years)
If you have an ACT score of 23 and higher or SAT (combined reading/math) score of 1060+ and a high school grade point
average of at least 3.4/4.0 scale you will
be considered for this award.
Blue & Gray Award
($3,000 per year/$12,000 for four years)
If you have an ACT score of 21 and higher or SAT (combined reading/math) score of 980+ and a high school grade point
average of at least 3.2/4.0 scale you will
be considered for this award.
Complete these three steps to be considered for any of the Scholarships above.
Step 1: Apply to Shawnee State University. Your application for admission will be used as your scholarship application.
Step 2: Send your ACT/SAT score to the Admission Office.
Step 3: Send your current high
school grade point average/ Transcript to office of admission.
Scholarship is renewable every year
for four years. Maintain a 3.0 GPA and
earn 27 credit hours per academic year in order to automatically renew your
scholarship each academic year.
Scholarships deadline: December 1, 2017.
