MERIT-BASED AWARDS
As soon as you receive an offer of admission to UBC, you’ll automatically be considered for these merit-based awards. Consideration is based on your demonstrated academic achievement and your extracurricular involvement.INTERNATIONAL MAJOR ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP
International Major Entrance Scholarship (IMES) are awarded to exceptional international students entering undergraduate programs at UBC. Students receive their IMES when they enter their first year at UBC, and the scholarships are renewable for up to three additional years of study. The number and level of these scholarships awarded each year vary,depending on available funding.

OUTSTANDING INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AWARD
The Outstanding International Student (OIS) is a one-time, merit-based entrance scholarship awarded to qualified students when they are offered admission to UBC. Students selected for this award show strength academically and display involvement outside of the classroom.
ELIGIBILITY
To be considered for an OIS Award, you must:
- be new to UBC, entering directly from secondary school or post-secondary (university or college)
- be an international student studying at UBC on a Canadian study permit (student visa). (Changes to your citizenship status will affect your scholarship eligibility.)
- demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and strong extracurricular involvement
- apply to UBC by January 15
HOW TO APPLY
Follow these four steps to apply to UBC
Step 1: Choose your degree and campus
Each UBC campus has a distinct rrange of degree programs. In your application, you will have the opportunity to select aa first and second choice. The degrees you choose can be in different faculties and on different campuses. You will be evaluated for your second choice only if you are not admitted to your first choice.
Step 2: Meet admission requirements
* General admission requirements (basic)
- Graduation from a university-preparatory program at a senior secondary school.
- Admission average calculated on final year academic courses/exams.
* English language proficiency requirements
English is the primary language of instruction at UBC. All prospective students are required to demonstrate a minimum level of English before they’re admitted. Click to see English language requirements
Step 3: Begin your application
Complete online application.
Step 4: Submit your application and pay application fee
Finalize and submit your application and pay the non-refundable fee by credit card by, January 15.
- Canadian citizens and permanent resident students: $68 CAD
- International students: $114 CAD
Scholarships and application deadline: January 15, 2018.
